Artistic Rationale

We are three Australian artists in different mediums united by our compulsions to interrogate the costs of love—ancient and modern—through our own experiences of migration for love across the borders of China, Australia, Iran, and elsewhere. Both as a team and within our artistic practices, we are interested in tracing pathways of movement and emotion, reflecting belonging and dislocation while weaving dialogues between the classical and contemporary, East and West.

Arising from this deep collaboration, Here is Where We Meet transforms poetry into an interwoven constellation of mediums—each amplifying and transforming the others into a unified aesthetic language. Connecting Asian and Middle Eastern cultural heritages to contemporary Australian identity, we want to
 foster dialogues around love, migration, commerce, and belonging across cultures and histories.

These elements converge in a 4D caravanserai—a floating-perspective experience where poetry, music, and image echo as a single voice on a voyage of love along the remembered Silk Road. The final dimension is the spatial agency of the viewer, whose presence completes the constellation and gives the work its living form.
